1 :: About POSTAL 2

1.1 :: Who developed the game?

POSTAL 2 is being developed by the most dangerous videogame developer in the world: Running With Scissors

1.2 :: Who publishes the game?

Whiptail Interactive initially published the game but Running With Scissors terminated the agreement with them for a variety of breaches on their part. So RWS self-published the game. Throughout the world RWS relies on several distributors such as Akella, in Russia; Micromouse, in Japan; Hell-tech, throughout Europe; Gen X, in Canada.

1.3 :: When was it released?

Postal 2 was released on mid-April, 2003.

1.4 :: Will it be featured on other platforms? (e.g Xbox, PS2)

RWS has no plans for this development! And they also don't reject the idea. One step at the time! ;)

1.5 :: What's the system requirements?

MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  • Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
  • Direct X 8.1
  • Pentium 3 or AMD Athlon 733 MHz processor
  • 128MB of RAM
  • 8X CD-ROM
  • 3GB available hard drive space
  • A 32 MB GeForce 2 or Radeon-class video card*
  • A Windows-compatible sound card*
    *Compatible with DirectX 8.1 or higher

RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  • 1.2 GHz Pentium 3 or AMD Athlon processor
  • 384MB of RAM
  • 64MB GeForce 3 or Radeon 8500-class video card

NOTE: Due to the DirectX requirements of this game, it will not work and is unsupported under Windows 95

1.6 :: What type of game is it?

It's a FPS (First Person Shooter) with a mist of adventure and wicked action!

1.7 :: What's the story?

Get milk.

1.8 :: Who's the main character?

You'll be playing as the "Postal Dude".

1.9 :: Is Gary Coleman in the game?

Yes. You'll have to pick an autograph from Gary Coleman, in the game.

1.10 :: Is there be a demo?

Yes and it's available. Grab it here.

2 :: Gameplay

2.1 :: What's the game objective?

Do everyday things like buying milk, return a book to the library, etc. This means: 4 errands per day on 5 week days. Act violent or be a role-model citizen. You decide the way you do things and they must be done if you want to live.. er, end the game!

2.2 :: How many levels the game features?

The game consists in one, single, big environment divided in several parts with indoor and outdoor scenes.

2.3 :: Are there cut-scenes?

Yeah!

2.4 :: What weapons will be available?

Lots of 'em. Check them all here.

2.5 :: Who can I kill?

Ready? You can kill ANYONE! Virtually, obviously!

2.6 :: Can I drive?

If you got a driver's license.. sure. Oh in the game? No! And don't whine about this..

3 :: A.I. (Artificial Intelligence)

3.1 :: What's the big deal about A.I. in this game?

RWS is incorporating the original POSTAL A.I. technology into the new game which translates itself into a more realistic approach of human reactions on various situations, very different from what you're used to see in games.

3.2 :: How much real will the game be?

Real enough to make you feel wrong about it. But a game is a game so don't cry if something unreal just happened.

3.3 :: How do characters react?

Realistically! Hide your weapon and they will be cool, show them your rocket launcher and they will run to the nearest cop or the cop himself will do something about it (if he sees you). Some game characters can also return favors.

4 :: Engine

4.1 :: What's the game engine?

POSTAL 2 was developed on Epic Games' cutting edge technology "Unreal Warfare Engine"! If you have no idea on what this shit is blow yourself!

4.2 :: Is it any good?

Hell yeah! NEXT!

4.3 :: How many people does the engine handle?

Technically the engine handles 64 onscreen characters but RWS is aiming for 15-20 (good looking models), and their bodies won't disappear once killed. You can select all these options in the game.

5 :: Sound

5.1 :: Who's making the sound?

The one and only: Christian Salyer, responsible for the excellent sound job in the original POSTAL.

5.2 :: What can be expected?

Have you played POSTAL before? It features one of the most remarkable sound experience perfectly combined with the gameplay. So prepare for moans, screams and a lot more twisted shit that you were used to hear in POSTAL.

5.3 :: Is there music?

There is no constant soundtrack but rather ambient sounds. For example, when you go into the mall, you hear music that is being boosted around the whole building.

5.4 :: Does the game support EAX/EAX2?

POSTAL 2 uses the default engine capabilities.

6 :: Multiplayer

6.1 :: Can the game be played online?

No. You need Postal 2: Share The Pain for that.

7 :: Modifications

7.1 :: Can I make my own levels?

Yes. POSTAL 2 has a level editor that allows you to create levels and mods.

7.2 :: What tools do I need?

Tools are free. They come included with the full game.

7.3 :: Is it hard to create my own MOD?

Depends on your skills. If you're interested in making your own levels then you should be familiarized with the Unreal Editor, although the new editor is somewhat different. Get Unreal Tournament and start fooling around with it's level editor.

If you are rather interested in creating a Total Conversion then a lot of things needs to be done like creating new character models, new sounds and lots of coding. If you're a newbie in these domains then maybe you should try looking for info and help. Remember the game is powered by a Unreal Engine.
