Below is a long list of mass murders and spree killings by country. I though this would be interesting since the Postal series is centered around this kind of stuff. Because there are people on Wikipedia who are real technical about what's a spree killing and what's not, it's not possible to find this information all in one place on Wikipedia.

United States

Camden massacre (United States, 1949): Howard Unruh, a World War II veteran, murdered 13 people in Camden, New Jersey, with a German Luger before surrendering to police.

Starkweather/Fugate murders (United States, 1958): Charles Starkweather and his adolescent girlfriend Caril Ann Fugate murdered eleven people over the course of eight days before being apprehended by police. Starkweather was executed in 1959 and Fugate was imprisoned until 1976.

Texas tower sniper (United States, 1966): Charles Whitman, a student at the University of Texas at Austin killed 14 people and wounded 31 others as part of a shooting rampage from the observation deck of the University's 32-story administrative building. He did this shortly after murdering his wife and mother. He was eventually shot and killed by an Austin police officer.

The Casanova Killer (United States, 1974): Paul John Knowles, after a close friend rejected his marriage proposal, murdered 18 people in a statewide killing spree across northern Florida. After his apprehension in Georgia, Knowles was shot to death during an attempt to commandeer the police cruiser he was riding in the back of.

Briley Brothers (United States, 1979): Anthony Ray Briley, James "J.B." Briley, Jr. and Linwood Briley, all brothers, murdered ten people over the course of seven months, typically using guns and knives. James and Linwood Briley were put to death in the Virginia State Penitentiary electric chair, while Anthony Briley remains incarcerated.

Wilkes-Barre massacre (United States, 1982): George Banks opened fire in his home, killing his numerous girlfriends and children. After killing two neighbors Banks would travel to another girlfriend's house and open fire a second time. All in all, Banks would kill 13 people, 11 of which were his girlfriends or children. Initially sentenced to death, Banks was later found hopelessly insane and unable to execute.

San Ysidro McDonald's massacre (United States, 1984): James Oliver Huberty opened fire at a McDonald's in San Ysidro with an Uzi, 12-gauge Remington pump-action shotgun, and a 9mm Browning Hi-Power semi-automatic pistol. In the ensuing chaos, 21 people were murdered by Huberty, and many others injured. The massacre ended when a SWAT sniper perched on a building across the street shot Huberty through the heart.

Edmond U.S. Post Office massacre (United States, 1986): Patrick Sherrill, a recently fired postman, used two .45 caliber semi-automatic pistols and a .22 caliber revolver to murder 14 co-workers before turning one of the guns on himself.

Dover massacre (United States, 1987): Ronald Gene Simmons killed 14 relatives from December 22nd to December 26th. On December 28th, Simmons entered his workplace with a revolver in each hand and went on a shooting spree, killing two and wounding numerous others. Beginning his rampage on the 34th floor and continuing down an internal staircase, Ferri shot and killed eight people. After police closed in on the building, Ferri committed suicide. You saw that too? Wasn't that just horrible? I watched it with my friend and we couldn't even finish the damn thing. So gross. I would have added Oklahoma City and 9/11 but I decided against it since those are still fresh on our minds. I suppose Columbine and Virginia Tech are too, but the same thing happens everyday. The only difference is the incredibly large body count. Ones I forgot to add are Bath School bomber Andrew Kehoe and Chicago student nurse killer Richard Speck.
