Zavian's Damage Mod v4 and 1.337 patch

Greetings, Sorry for a new thread, but searched through all pages of mods and support and can't find this topic.

I'm trying to run the game with Zavian's Damage Mod v4. (Just P2, not STP) It works fine until I hit 'esc', then it crashes consistently with the error message:

Failed to find function FinallyOver in GameSinglePlayer Save8.GameSinglePlayer2

I uninstalled/reinstalled and discovered it doesn't give me this problem until I apply the 1.337 patch.

OK, so it's been a year or so since I played, but I thought I had used the Damage Mod with the patch, as well as AW and AW7. Am I doing something wrong or am I just forgetting that they are not compatible?

sounds like they are not compatable,the finaloverlay is odviously the menu buttons that show up in the esc menu.

if you can play without having to press esc then you should be fine

Just using f5/f8 works. That is what I was doing. The fun for me now with Postal 2 is just raising hell though. I want a save for the start of each day. It is strange that the options screen works at the start to load a game. It is only when I am in game and use that esc key that it crashes. I cannot understand this.

Do you think the save slots will still work if I play through and then install the 1.337 patch? Or will the pipe behind the trailer cause a problem? The "New Day" always starts by the car where we can't see the pipe, so I don't know.

i thought about that too,i think the esc menu is on a differant menu code thankfully

i wouldn't risk trying that instead you can skip to the day you want via console with warptoday tuesday,or friday

I never tried using the console, so not sure if that would work with the mod either. I would probably have to find all my weapons and inventory again also. :(

Since you seem to be the only person paying attention to this forum, Wolve, I do have one more question you might be able to answer: Will the 1.337 patch allow me to extract the files to a separate folder?

I remember when I installed it, it automatically found my C:\Games\Postal2 folder and I clicked "Yes" to install it. I cannot remember if I could tell it to install to C:\Games\Postal2\patch instead.

Obviously, the patch adds new maps, textures, and probably static meshes. Do you have any idea what they did to improve load times? Did they change ALL the maps somehow to make them load faster?

What I want to do is experiment and see if the new maps will run without the patch.

I do not think I need the patch, except for the missing maps. With my old machine, I could not run Postal 2 with full graphic options. This new computer runs Painkiller with all graphics on high, so I wanted to try Postal 2 again. I was surprised that there were no dual-core problems I had read about, but even more surprised that the load times are 1/3 of what they were when I used the patch, so I am not worried about speed.

Unfortunately, I am not a modder, and not very smart with tech. I do not know much about the Unreal engine. I only know that it will tell me if I am missing a required file. I have had this happen when playing custom maps. So, I don't know if it will work, but I can always remove a map if it crashes.

allso if you download the eternal damnation mod we did and install it to same folder you can play that allso :)

ED takes a bit more to run than postal 2 does,so that should be a good test.

and yeah you should be able to change the paths for the patch :)

Wow! Eternal Damnation was still 'in progress' the last time I had P2 installed. I played everything else and was very much looking forward to that. I even joined Resurrection Studios forum while waiting, but cannot remember my name or password now.

I was just checking earlier and saw it was finished, but requires STP. Thank you for the link also. I did not know there was a free version of STP either.

You were involved with ED, so I cannot expect an un-biased opinion from you! :) But, maybe you can understand that I bought AW. Zombies were fun. Machete and Sledgehammer were fun too, but I was mostly disappointed, even with AW7.

I really like the Damage Mod. 1-4 headshots will kill almost anything, and is much more fun than having to blast them 10 times in the face before they fall.

As I said before, fun is what I am after, and P2 offers PLENTY of that! I can do without those Tora Bora maps. I would rather be shooting at bearded men with wide-brimmed hats and black clothes than ragheads. Has anyone made a skin/boltons mod for that? I will probably get banned permanently for even asking on a German forum. :(

lol no but there are rabbi's in ED :)

my honest opinion of ED?

it could of been a whole lot better.

why were remaking it,so far for the remake we have coop A.I,usable turrets new arcade maps and so many things postal has never seen before its like a compleatly new game :)

AWP (aw7 renamed) is basically weapon overload,and in my opionion is the best mod so far for postal2 theres guns out there that can shoot through anything,walls terrain ect.

kankai made a weapons addon for awp and a new bullettime that basically freezes people in place and lets you run up to them place traps,slice there heads off do basically anything you want.

it allso adds ED weapons to the game :)

if you can find it look for awp mod by kankai,it is out there somewere

allso if you want to learn modding i have tons of video tutorials over there that will help you get started,you would be surprised at how easy it is

EDIT: i take that back,i just found out by Jon M kankai is the douchebag making new cheats for MP trying to destroy it.

I tried downloading the free STP and it kept getting stuck. Last time it got to 93% for about 8 hours before I finally cancelled it.

You got me remembering AW/AWP also. What I really disliked was not having the same 'sandbox' gameplay (being able to go anywhere,) and that stupid friggin boss at the end that always kicked my ass.

I set up another Postal 2 installation, and installed the patch. You were right about the saved games. They will load without crashing, but the Tora Bora pipe is not there.

After that, I decided to go ahead and install AW and AWP, and discovered that my AW disc is bad. So, instead of struggling to download STP and ED, I have my computer dude searching for the Fudge Pack.

Thank you also, for the offer of help to get started in modding. I once decided to give PostED a try and was completely lost!. Maybe your videos will help, but Unreal must be 1000000x more complicated than Doom, and I cannot even master that simple engine.

actually i find doom 3 harder lol

but our music master neurological is great at making mods for doom 3 :)
