Error when beginning the prog

I tried to send this to the support at RWS but I get a fatal error whenever I send mail to the address so I thought this may be the best place to post my problem instead.  I hope you can all help.

When I begin the game I get to the warning screen and then I get this error message:

Error setting display mode: CheckDepthStencilMatch failed. (D3D_OK). Please delete your UT2003.ini file if this error prevents you from starting the game.

History: UD3DRenderDevice::UnSetRes <- DetermineFormats <- SetupPresentParms <- UD3DRenderDevice::SetRes <- UWindowsViewport::TryRenderDevice <- UWindowsViewport::OpenWindow <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

I searched my comp and I dont have a UT2003.ini file installed.

I do not know my computers specs. if someone could tell me how to find out what they are I would be eternally gratefull.

im not sure how to solve it, but indeed you dont have a ut2003.ini but rather a postal2.ini

try deleting that one

i also suggest you to low the specs in the performance screen and see how it works out

I have deleted the file numerous times and tried to edit it as well, still no dice.  I am going to format my comp in about a week, maybe that'll help.
