kMod 1.6 not working...

Okay, I'm too cheap to shell out for STP (And I don't care for MP that much, although it looks like great fun!) so I find ways to make SP last. I loved kMod 1.1 (or whatever) and saw 1.6 came out... New install method? Oookay... Basically, I follow it to the letter and it doesn't work! I make a "kMod" directory in my "system" directory, edit Postal2.ini (Or whatever it asked to edit), add in "Path=*/system/kMod/*.u" and it doesn't do anything! So, until someone can walk an idiot through this I'm stuck with 1.1... Please, could someone help me?

I posted this here because the Mods forum seems deserted...


Edit: Upon checking the readme, I have done exactly as it says, although some of the info up there is a bit off...

I finally come back to find it's been viewed 131 times with no replies... Does no one else have this problem?

Hi there. I had the same problem, and here is how I succeeded to solve it:

First, I hope you removed all your old kMod 1.1 files and restored the original *.u files. ;)

What seems unexplained is that you have to rename the *.u files that are in the kMod folder: their names begin each by the "k" letter (probably to avoid crushing the original files if they were unzipped in the wrong folder). But now, the game can't recognize them...
So, kAIPack.u must become AIPack.u, and so on...

And then, make sure you typed the line "PATHS=**\system\kMod\*.u" before the line "PATHS=**\system\*.u" in the Postal2.ini file. If not, the game will load first the original *.u files and ignore the mod files.

Since I made those arrangements, it works perfectly.
Good mod: lots of new cool stuff, and the "1337 patch anthrax bug" finally corrected.
Just a regret: it's no longer possible to decapitate characters with the shovel. :(
