Bugging me...

I have a powerful PC, and Postal 2 and Share the Pain run pretty bad at times. Games like Ut2k4 and Painkiller run great, and I assume Half-Life 2 will also. Now I'm not bashing Postal 2, but the graphics are not that great, yet the game still runs poorly. Like lighting fires or causing mass choas the game slows down alot. I have an ATI card, a 9600xt. What could be the problem?

Hi, your graphics card doesn't seem to be the problem.
Like Cartman said - maybe it's your cpu or other hardware.
Please post your sys specs (CPU, MB-RAM, OS)...
Do you use an onboard-soundcard?

I have a 2.5ghz Intel pentium 4. 1 gb of ram. Windows XP, 128mb Ati Radeon 9600XT. The game runs okay most of the time, but really slows down in certain events.

Well I changed the sound mode in the game, and it works GREAT!
I never knew that software sound to affect performance! I'm getting the fps of 50-70 that I get in the newer games. Thanks for the tip! Now if you excuse me, I have to get Gary Coleman's autograph, and make a stop at ATF R US!

Are you saying that the sound card on my mother board could slow down the game?! Wow, if that is true than I'm speechless. I never knew that. What sound card would you recommend?
get a sound blaster live 5.1 (cheap and good) or if you are really into sound get the latest audigy
